IN-STORE ADS
In its 90s heyday, Pizza Hut wasn’t just a pizza brand – it was part of Australian culture. Kids recited the “Dougie the Pizza Boy” scripts in the playground, and everyone knew the “481-11-11 Pizza Hut Delivery!” jingle by heart. That emotional equity didn’t disappear – it just went quiet.
Pizza Hut needed to compete in a crowded, deal-driven category where everyone shouts about price and toppings. The brand was still well-known, but the love had faded. We needed to:
Reawaken genuine affection for Pizza Hut, not just drive short-term deals.
Honour the nostalgia without feeling stuck in the past.
Use creativity and data together to prove that brand-building would translate into sales, not just warm feelings.
Australians didn’t just remember Pizza Hut ads – they remembered how they felt: family nights, sleepovers, sports finals, late-night study sessions. Pizza Hut at its best has always been about connection and “good times”, not just pizza.
So instead of chasing the loudest discount, we made a braver choice:
Lead with emotion and memory, supported by smart media and measurement.
Treat nostalgia as a strategic asset – something we could modernise, not simply repeat.
Position Pizza Hut as the brand that helps Australians Share Good Times – a simple line that ties together brand, product and experience.
Brand strategy and positioning
“Share Good Times” became the new brand line – a clear, human promise rooted in what Pizza Hut has always been about. It connected the emotional memory of the 90s with the reality of modern Australian life.Creative platform – brave nostalgia, modern relevance
We made a deliberate, gutsy call: bring back some of the most iconic brand assets in Australian fast food history – the cavalry charge music and Dougie – and reimagine them for today. The cavalry charge music created instant recognition and emotional recall.
Dougie’s return felt like seeing an old friend – reintroduced with a wink, not a relic.
The creative work balanced warmth, humour and momentum – high-energy, inclusive and unmistakably Pizza Hut.
TVCs, online content and social
We rolled out a suite of TVCs and online content reflecting real-life “good times” moments – friends, families, flatmates and teams – with Pizza Hut at the centre. These weren’t idealised, glossy tableaus; they felt lived-in, diverse and recognisably Australian.Radio and in-store
Radio extended the earworm factor – leveraging the familiar music and tone to reinforce recall in drive-time and everyday listening. In-store, we kept the same “Share Good Times” language and energy so the brand experience was consistent from ad to order to pick-up.Data, testing and optimisation
Behind the scenes, we treated the campaign like a live experiment:Tracking shifts in awareness, consideration and brand sentiment.
Testing creative assets and placements, then optimising toward what drove both emotional response and incremental sales.
Using performance data to refine media mix across TV, online and radio, making every dollar work harder.
Share Good Times is our new brand positioning line.
This is what Pizza Hut has always been about.
So we built a campaign which celebrates those everyday moments, because there’s special in everyday.
TVCs
